Sunday Hummus

I prefer chickpeas from a can.
Some say garbanzo beans.
I don't like to say
garbanzo bean.
It feels weird.
I don't cook the chickpeas.
They've soaked in water
since canning.
Isn't that enough?
I process them with citrus juice
until they're ready.
Fluffy, creamy...
I don't like to say that either.
I add tahini.
Saying tahini is also weird,
but I like that word.
I add salt, pepper,
cumin, paprika,
and garlic.
All the good things.
The spice of life.
And, just like life,
clean water is essential.
This is all combined
and stored
in a glass container.
It's kept cool in the fridge.
Spread on good bread,
toasted and halved...
diagonally.
Served with hot tea or coffee.
It's better with black coffee,
rich, and strong.
This is the stuff of life.
A good life, rich and strong.
Afterward,
it's off to do
what else needs doing.
So, live well.
Live rich
and live strong.

Thanks
